Hello my wonderful clan mates!

The time has come, yet again, for me to bid farewell to you all as I embark on my journey to University for the second time. However, this time will be a little different and it saddens me greatly to say this to you all. I will be leaving the game permanently for my own benefit. I will not be leaving you in the dark about my decision and so if you are interested the story will be right here. If you're not too concerned about the details please skip to the end as I do have something exciting I want to share with you all!

Sauerbraten is easily one of the most time consuming activities that I currently enjoy. To give you an idea:

And this is just the time spent logged into ogros on the new effic.me servers. Multiply that by about a factor of 8 (Which is probably my best guess for how much time I spend logged onto Ogros compared to how much actual time I spend playing) and you can see that within the past month I've spent nearly 1/3 of my time playing sauerbraten (This includes every single hour spent sleeping, eating, working and socialising). I consider myself a man of pragmatism and hence you may start to understand why playing sauerbraten is probably not the best way forward for me.
But this enormous time consumption can easily be fixed by simply moderating how much time I play right? Well, I have two answers for that. The first is that this game has become an addiction of mine. Closing the game and simply cutting my time is hard enough on its own when the temptation to play is always there! Quitting cold turkey is already going to be giving me withdrawal symptoms. Moderating would not be a simple solution.
Well it's certainly an easier solution than simply never playing right? And this is where my second answer comes in:

I've been getting involved into some serious considerations about where I want my life to be. Most people are afraid of letting others know what their real dream is but seriously fuck it, I'm telling you mine whether you think I'm an idiot or not. - I have a vision of my perfect day. My perfect life and the perfect lifestyle that would suit me best. Put bluntly, sauerbraten is not part of that vision. To give you a better idea of my vision consider this: Imagine waking up at 5AM. You're so excited to work that you can't sleep any longer, despite only going to bed after midnight. You're ready for work and remember that the work you're involved in isn't even mandatory! You don't even need to turn up because regardless of what you do you're going to end up with money in your wallet and a smile on your bank statement. Imagine now that your bed is actually afloat. That's right you remember now! You're on a cruise ship to a small island where you'll be spending your holiday doing nothing but partying with friends and the likes. You make a couple quick phone calls to ensure your business runs smoothly (Did I mention you own your own business?) and reply to a few emails dealing with some lowly tenants (Did I also mention you own houses across the country and make a profit renting them out to people?) and begin your day with no concerns for money because you have it all already.

I've put this here on the internet for everyone to see, and whether I make it or not I'm not going to let the possibility slip by.

That is all I have to say about the subject. Again I will miss all of you very much as sauer has most definitely NOT been a complete waste of my time. I got to meet some fun guys and play together with them on a game we all shared and loved. It truly has been a wonderful experience meeting you all and I give you all my best wishes for your futures in both sauer and life

Bon voyage!!! Maybe our paths will meet again in the future....

So there was some exciting news I wanted to mention. I've put together a few ideas for a frag movie and have some of my favourite clips in place already. But then I had another idea... Why not make a clan frag movie?!?! I want you guys all to submit your favourite moments in sauer for me to add to the video in the hopes of making an awesome frag movie from the .rC team for everyone in sauer to enjoy I figured since I'm leaving, I'd like to leave a legacy for our clan in the least.

Just reply to this post with an attachment of all your favourite demos and let me know which times you enjoyed the most and I'll get recording and editing. As a bonus I hope to release the video for everyone here first before the rest of the community get to see it

Probably one of the rare times a leaving post isn't a sad one. Seriously, huge respect for opening up about your ambitions in life.

I can't remember where I read this quote, but it went something like, "follow your dreams, or you'll end up working for someone who did". Words to live by.

Unfortunately, we didn't get the chance to speak too extensively throughout your time in Sauer. I think that was in part due to your inactivity around that time, and the fact that I completely lost interest in the game, so to speak - however, for the short six months or so we were clanmates in Sauer I can say it was an absolute pleasure, and not only myself but indeed we all considered ourselves privileged to have you around as a clanmate, and a friend. Thanks for everything you've contributed towards the development of this team, and for all the good times you've given and shared with us. I wholeheartedly appreciate having gotten to know you, and wish you the absolute best for the future.

I'll still be around on FB if you ever want to stay in touch. 8)
